Values
Every house is built upon a foundation. The Summit is built upon the foundation of our theology-how we think about God, and our values-the kinds of ideas and attitudes that we feel are important.
Values define what a church feels like. Values are recognized in the atmosphere of the church, the ethos. It is possible for two churches to believe exactly the same doctrine, but to feel very different because the two churches have different value systems.
Here are some of the things that we value at The Summit:
1. Every person, Christian and Non-Christian is valuable to God and His Kingdom.
Responsible evangelism and on going discipleship will always be our cause and the core of our ministry.
2. Church as a "team" is God's design for effective ministry.
We believe that every person's Spirit-empowered serving with a willing hearted involvement is vital to God's plan being accomplished.
3. A simple presentation of the Gospel and passionate worship in creative ways will impact and transform lives.
We believe that our expression of the Gospel must be culturally relevant and biblically balanced in order to reach the hearts of this generation.
4. Every member should commit to a lifestyle of consistent spiritual growth with honest accountability.
We are committed to the fact that the best way this can happen is in a "Life Cell". Small groups that allow for discipleship, accountability and open honesty are critical to our growth in the faith.
5. We believe that every member is a minister with gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed.
Every person will find their joy and fulfillment when serving in their spiritual gifts and passions. Each person is created, gifted, authorized and needed for ministry.
6. We believe that God is worthy of our best.
We embrace a spirit of excellence and work towards constant evaluation and a willingness to improve.
7. Genuine love and caring relationships are the keys to every endeavor in life.
We refuse to give an audience to a spirit of complaining or offense. We will be courageous in solving problems in ways that honor God and build biblical character. We value healthy relationships by protecting the spirit of unity.
8. We are committed to multicultural and intergenerational ministry.
We do not believe that God chooses people on the basis of their skin color or their age. The church is to "look" like the Father and He is the God of the nations. There is acceptance and a place of ministry opportunity regardless of age or color.
9. We believe in identifying and training emerging leaders who are committed to reaching their generation.
Our responsibility lies in recognizing and trusting those who come behind us.
We are passionately committed to raising up healthy, reproducing Christians who will plant healthy, reproducing churches.
